Dr. Rodney S. Lofton

For nearly 35 years, Dr. Rodney S. Lofton has studied and applied organizational leadership principles as a teacher, principal, school superintendent and executive coach. His practical leadership experience and advice is called upon by leaders at every level of influence – churches, educational institutions and executive offices throughout the United States and the US Virgin Islands. Dr. Lofton’s exceptional insights into the nature of leadership coaching has earned him the respect across generations of influencers and visionaries. 

He holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Adult Learning from Columbia University, NY.  In addition, Dr. Lofton developed his coaching skills through the Advanced Certification Program in Executive Coaching through the John C. Maxwell Program. 

Dr. Lofton served as the Superintendent of Schools in the Trenton Public Schools for four years. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Lofton served as Deputy Superintendent in the Mt. Vernon, NY Public Schools, Assistant Superintendent for Greenburgh School District, Executive Director for Durham Public Schools and over 25 years in the NYC Department of Education as a principal and teacher.

Following his retirement in 2016, Rodney serves as a senior consultant for the Center for Model Schools (formerly International Center for Leadership in Education), delivering support for district and school leadership using data analytics, curriculum design, leadership coaching, and project monitoring. In addition, Rodney serves as the Chief Strategic Officer for Steptech Innovation LLC, a new education technology company. 

His past experiences have led him to be a leader, focused on transformative learning and equity for today’s children and the institutions that serve them.  He is a leader who works to shape educational policy and program development, as well as serve as a trainer and coach to facilitate the change needed. He is passionate about preparing educational leaders to create bridges to strengthen our schools and communities for our children.
